"Bump Outs" proposed for Columbia Tusculum
CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Would the Stanley Avenue business district in Columbia Tusculum be better if the curb was made crooked?
That's a serious quesitionb brought up by the owner of Stanley's pub. When the streetscape is done, he would like to see "bump outs" installed.
These are extensions of the sidewalk into the curb lane. Instead of traffic going straight through when no one is parked, if there are parking spaces they are built into the curb. This is a structure used to slow down traffic and hopefully beautify the street, and can be seen on Galbraith Rd west of Hamilton Ave in North College Hill, and in some other neighrborhood business districts.
The Columbia Tusculum Community Council is going to take up this idea at their next meeting. A release follows:
