Mulligan Seeking Reelection in November

MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) - Larry Mulligan, Jr., mayor of Middletown for 3 ½ years, pulled petitions today as the first step in seeking reelection in November.

A fourth generation resident of Middletown, Mulligan, his wife Kristen, and their three children ages 15, 17 and 19, live on South Main Street.

Mulligan said, "It has been an honor and privilege to serve as Middletown's Mayor. As a city, we have faced some significant challenges, but have also realized some huge successes.  We've made great progress, but there is still much work to do. Thanks to many people working together, there is a resurgence of activity in Downtown Middletown.

City puts overdue fines and fees online

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The city of Cincinnati is making it easier for people to figure out if they owe overdue parking fines or administrative fees.  They have put them on a database that makes it possible to search by name or license number.  There is a city amnesty program that will eliminate part of the cost if payment is made by June 30.

Here is information from the city amnesty program:

With the last two phases of the City’s Second Chance Amnesty Program underway through June 30, the program’s website features two online databases for citizens to search for outstanding obligations.

Less-extreme gas prices few and far between after another major increase

Less-extreme gas prices few and far between after another major increase

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - After the second major rise in gas prices in 5 days, prices at the vast majority of Tri-State gas stations were at $3.39 (ignoring the last digit) as of Friday afternoon.  Those prices are just for regular, with premium now typically at $3.59 a gallon.

Barring another hike, individual gas stations may start slowly droppng their prices to gain business from neighboring stations, although that didn't have much time to happen earlier this week, when most stations raised prices on Monday or Tuesday to 3.29, then raised them again Friday morning to 3.39.  It's also possible that some of the stations with lower prices only have them because they haven't gotten around to joining the price hike yet

Here are prices that were less than four hours old as of 5 p.m.

Lowest gas prices hard to find, low prices impossible

MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) – If you want the lowest gas prices in the area, your best bet is to be in Middletown or to be a member of a club store.

If you want gasoline for under 3 dollars a gallon, you’ll need a time machine.

Prices took off like a jump jet Monday or Tuesday, according to the chart on the FOX19 Gas Price Tracker page.  Last week a number of stations had prices of $3.03 or lower; after the price hike was over, the average price for regular was around $3.29 a gallon, with few stations varying much from that average.

The lowest prices were in scattered spots around Southwest Ohio.   Motorists who report prices observed the Costco and Sam’s Club locations along Fields Ertel Road in Mason and Loveland charging 3.09 (omitting the fractional .9 cents)  for regular.   A number of stations on Middletown’s northwest side nearest the airport and Miami Unive

Chesley disbarment recommendation threatens huge legacy

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - A Kentucky trial commissioner's recommendation that attorney Stan Chesley be disbarred in Kentucky is an almost shocking development in light of Chesley's major legal cases, national and international prominence, and his involvement in local community affairs.

Here is an incomplete list of the many public cases and events he has been involved with around the Tri-State:

1977: The Beverly Hills Supper Club fire, Southgate, KY-- Chesley broke new ground in bringing a class action suit against the manufacturer of construction materials that were implicated in spread of the 1977 fire that killed 165 people.

1984: He wins a large settlement for a Cincinnati Zoo worker injured by a polar bear.

1984: He represents people killed or injured when an elevator carrying several elderly holocaust survivors plunges several floors in a Kenwood apartment building.
